THOMAS W. PEPPERS, 95, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, November 17, 2014 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Anglin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dover, TN. Visitation will be on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 4-6 pm at Anglin Funeral Home.

Born on July 26, 1919, in Dover, Tennessee, he was the son of William F. and Nancy E. (Pepper) Pepper. He was raised and received his education in Tennessee and Kentucky.

A veteran of World War II, Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in France, Germany and Austria.

He was united in marriage to Elta Oletta on August 29, 1942 in St. Charles, Missouri. Following his honorable discharge, the couple made their home in Tennessee and farmed. In 1950, they moved to Granite City, Illinois, and he worked in an appliance store. Thomas later became a certified Whirlpool technician and in 1973 the couple moved to Pasadena, Texas. Mrs. Peppers preceded him in death in 1988. Thomas moved to Winfield in 2012 to be near family.

His hobbies included fishing, golfing, and woodworking.

His family includes:
His son: Larry Peppers and wife Laura of Salina, KS;
His daughters: Linda Byers and husband Brian of Hideaway, TX; Vonnie Peppers of Red Oak, TX; and Mary Milner of Winfield, KS;
His sisters: Mattie Page of Dover, TN; and Pearl O’Conner and husband Ron of Clark, SD;
His grandchildren: Richard (Misti), Robert (Kathryn), Barbara (Randy), Lyndon (Layla) Bradley (Melissa) and Lisa (Mike);
His 15 grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy and William; and his sisters, Lucille Ford and Dorothy Fortune.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
