Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Oaks Childers, age 93 of Dover, Tennessee, formerly of Cullman and Birmingham, Alabama will be at 12 noon Saturday, September 19, 2015 from Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Cullman, AL, with Bros. Sam McElroy and Albert Dean Estes officiating. Burial will follow at Cullman City Cemetery. Anglin Funeral Home assisted with local arrangements.
Mrs. Childers passed away Wednesday, September 16 in Paris, Tennessee. She was born November 8, 1921 in Cullman Co. AL to Offie Steven and Esther Mae McClung Oaks. She was married December 14, 1940 to her husband; Cranford Cleburn Childers. She retired from Eighty Fifth St. Baptist Church in Birmingham in 1993 where she was the housekeeper and also member for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 62 years, beloved daughter; Janice Marie Childers, sisters; Evelyn Oaks Stalnaker and Edith McElroy, three brothers; O. H., Edward and Steven Dewitt Oaks.
Survivors include her son; Cranford Oaks Childers of Dover, TN, three grandchildren; Chani Childers of Dover, TN, Janice (Ronald) Kincheloe of Midland, TX, and Drew Childers of Midland, TX, sister Eula Mae McAnally of Eva, AL and Jerrell Oaks of Decatur, AL.
Visitation will be 6-9 pm. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Heart Assoc. or Alzheimer's Association
