Obituary for Norman Allen Mathis

Norman Allen Mathis, age 90, of Dover, passed away December 20, 2014, at his home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Anglin Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Wallace to officiate. Burial will be in the Heflin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service Monday at Anglin Funeral Home, family members will serve as pallbearers.
He was born February 24, 1924 in Stewart County, TN, son of the late Joseph and Birdie Gibson Mathis. Mr. Mathis served in the US Army 97th Infantry Division, he was a Veteran of WWII, and he was a machinist at A.K. Steel formerly Armco Steel in Ohio. He attended the Dyer’s Creek Church of God and was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Marian Alvean Bumpus Mathis, brother, Marion Mathis, Winston Mathis, Carel Eldred Mathis, sister, Thelma Delarose, and one grandchild.
Survivors include his children, Donald Allen Mathis, Dover, Ronald Dell Mathis, Tenton, OH, Karen Ann Seiter, Brookville, IN, bother, Charles E. Mathis, Hamilton, OH, sister, Sylvia Glass, Middleton, OH, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
