Wanda Sue Wells

Wanda Sue Wells, age 85, of Madisonville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2026, in Madisonville. She was born on September 21, 1940, in Eddyville, Kentucky, to the late Johnnie Marshall and Irene Tippit Marshall.

Wanda was a faithful attendee of Pritchett Chapel Church and found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved country music, especially attending concerts by Lee Greenwood, and never passed up the chance for a shopping trip to her favorite store, Cato's. Wanda also cherished traveling to the mountains and, most of all, spending precious time with her family whom she loved deeply.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, warmth, and love will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Hodge Noel, George Heflin, and Frank Hurst.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Yolanda Payne (Chuck) and Rhonda Wells; her partner, Billy Carter; grandchildren, Ryan Lawson, Ashleigh Lawson, Lexie Receniello, and Alex Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Noah Detert, Sylas Oliver, Gavin Taylor, and Charlotte Receniello; and her siblings, John Marshall (Donna), David Marshall (Naomi), Billy Marshall (Brenda), Jane Threatt (Danny), Barbara Noel, Pat Heflin, and Charlotte Marshall.

Private graveside services will be held at Stewart County Memorial Gardens with Pastor Steven Head officiating.
