Vivian Joyce Barton Hildebrand, 93, Dover, TN, formerly of Wayland, Iowa, passed away peacefully at Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville, TN, on January 27, 2022 of natural causes.
Vivian was born March 2, 1928 to Roy and Minnie Lamar Barton in Henry County, Iowa. She graduated from
Mr. Pleasant High School and received her teaching degree from Iowa Wesleyan College.
She married Willis L. (Bill) Hildebrand, August 6, 1949 at Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She remained a member of the church for 59 years.
She taught school, worked as a secretary, and other positions during her life, and upon retirement, was working as an Assistant Librarian at WACO High School, in Wayland, Iowa.
For most of her life, she was a member of the American Legion Ladies’ Auxilary, the VFW Auxilary, and several other clubs in Wayland. She loved cooking, sewing, reading, travelling with Bill, playing cards, dancing and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving family, two daughters, Judy (Paul) Birney and Mona (Dave) Grimes, both of Dover, TN, five grandchildren, Keith Hildebrand, Kelli Oppelt, Kari Brown, Scott VanNess, and Stacy Baumgartner, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Larry Hildebrand, one brother, Rex Barton, and two sisters, Wilma Eustice and Beryl Rich.
Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery, Lockridge, Iowa. No visitation or service is planned at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
