Virgil Wortham

Virgil Samuel Wortham, 91, Indian Mound, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Manor House of Dover. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Anglin Funeral Home With Rev. Don Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Seay Cemetery, Indian Mound. Visitation will be Monday, March 19. from 5:00 - 7:00 pm and Tuesday from 1:00 until the hour of service. Vigil was born March 18, 1921 in Indian Mound, TN , son of the late Ervin L. Wortham and Leona Richardson Wortham and stepmother Sadie Richardson Wortham. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Peacher Wortham, brothers, Jimmy Wortham, Ervin Wortham, Jr., and sister, Vanessa Morrison. Virgil is a veteran of WWII where he was a member of the 512th Military Police. He participated in the liberation of concentration camps in Germany. he returned home and began a long career in construction. Virgil was a member of the Indian Mound Methodist Church. He was a great carpenter and loved fishing, card playing, and Bingo with his nursing home family. He loved children of all ages. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Virgil is survived by his brother, H.R. Wortham and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seay Cemetery, 134 Old School Rd. Indian Mound, TN 37079.
