Sophronia Fugate

Mrs. Sophronia Fugate, age 89, of Bristol, WI, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, MO, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 24, 1937, to John Dishman and Minnie Cornett Newland.

Sophronia devoted her life to her family, whom she loved deeply. She proudly stood by her husband's side throughout their 61 years of marriage as he served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Fugate, the love of her life, and her daughter, Selena Fugate.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Ralph Fugate (Julie) of Bristol, WI, and John Joseph Fugate of Holts Summit, MO.

A graveside service will be held at Stewart County Memorial Gardens on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11:00 am with Bro. Joe Shannon officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
