Ruby Mcelroy

MCELROY, RUBY PORTIA . May 19, 2013. Born October 31, 1909, in Dover, Tennessee. Ruby graduated from Stewart County High, received her Bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State College and Masters degrees in Education and Education Supervision from the George Peabody College for Teachers. She taught high school English, Latin and French in Robertson, Franklin and Maury Counties, served as Supervisor of High Schools in Maury County, then as Supervisor of Teacher Certification for the State of Tennessee before retiring in Nashville in 1975. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd Stokes McElroy and Nettie Lancaster McElroy, both of Dover, and by her brother, Julius Delmas McElroy of Memphis. She is survived by five second-generation cousins and their families. Graveside service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Mt. View Cemetery, Dover, Tennessee.
