Ronald Eugene Melton, fondly known as Bro. Ron, age 70, of McEwen, TN, was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with his loving family by his side. Born on April 13, 1956, he was the beloved son of the late J.R. and Mary Jackson Melton.
Ron was a hard worker and a devoted provider for his family. Throughout his working years, he served as a laborer at a sawmill, a mailman, and a mechanic. No matter where he worked, he gave it his all. He put his heart into every assignment he was given and always did his very best.
In his pastime, Ron enjoyed tinkering on cars and bringing life back into vehicles that others may have given up on. He had a gift for seeing potential where others saw something beyond repair.
Most importantly, Ron loved the Lord. When he received the calling from the Lord to become a minister, he stepped into that calling with faith and boldness. He served as a minister at several Baptist churches across Tennessee and Kentucky.
Bro. Ron was faithful and gave of himself until the very end in his desire to serve the Lord and others. His faith, dedication, and willingness to help those around him were a true reflection of the love he had for his Savior.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family, church family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, J.R. and Mary Milton.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, wife of 52 years, Debra Atkins Melton; children, Sherry Cherry (Steve), Scott Melton, and Kim Wingate (Hawk); grandchildren, Ashley McKenty, Kelsey Gentry (Jake), AB McKenty-Fuller (Shelby), Jaycob Wingate, Aubrey Wingate, and Wyatt Counsell; great grandchildren, Kent Scribner and Garlyn Gentry; sister, Joann Luffman (Dotson); nephews, Chris and Dustin Luffman.
A visitation will be held at Anglin Funeral Home on Friday, September 11, 2026 beginning at 10:00 am with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm with Bro. Joe Shannon officiating. Burial will follow at Stewart County Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
