Robert Dougherty

S.F.C. Robert Martin James Dougherty died November 4, 2016 peacefully in his home. Predeceased by both his parents, Irvin and Norma Dougherty and brother, Thomas J. Dougherty. Survived by his brother David Dougherty, sisters, Donna Schwendinger, Lana Rutter, Ramona Ulbricht, Susan Ubelhor, Priscilla Dougherty, and Norma Jean Dougherty. Also survived by his children, Tara Ramona, Heather Rose, Thomas Shane, and Jacob Martin Dougherty, his former wives, Kathleen Dougherty and Jenifer Dougherty, and locally, by the Fowler family and the rest of the "Tennessee Crew". He was a proud military serviceman who retired as an S.F.C in the 101st Airborne Division, 3rd Brigade (Rakkasans) of the U.S. Army. He then continued working as a concrete inspection foreman at Gates Precast. Those who knew him, knew his heart. Those who didn’t, missed out. His sense of honor, service, and community left a lasting impression on the people around him. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, November 18, 2016 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, KY. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The "M.S. Hershey Foundation".
