Robert Brian Cathey, age 51, of Richmond, KY, passed away Sunday, June15, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY, after a courageous four-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on August 19, 1973, in Clarksville, TN, Brian was the son of Jannie Williams Cathey and Robert “Bobby” Cathey. He graduated from Stewart County High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Murray State University.
On May 10, 2003, Brian married Jennifer Logsdon. Together, they raised two children, Ruth and Robby. Brian worked for 17 years as an Electrical Engineer at Lexmark and spent the last 10 years working in IT at Southern Hills United Methodist Church (SHUMC), both in Lexington, KY.
A man of deep faith and service, Brian loved cooking and helping serve community meals at SHUMC. He also enjoyed building homes and participating in mission trips to Guatemala with Catalyst Resources International. His favorite pastimes included camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing, and spending time in nature.
Brian is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Ruth and Robby, all of Richmond, KY; his mother, Jannie Cathey of Dover, TN; his brother, Adam Cathey of Dover, TN; nieces Eden Cathey of Dover, TN; Rylee, Avery, and Brinley Logsdon of Mt. Washington, KY; and Savannah Wells of Boynton Beach, FL; and nephews Eli Cathey of Dover, TN, and Samuel Wells of Boynton Beach, FL.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Anglin Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, with the funeral service officiated by Bro. Paul Edwards. Those serving as pallbearers are Eli Cathy, Levi Lane, Tim Griffin, Scotty Blane, Glen Earhart, and Gary Williams. Burial will follow at Acree Cemetery.

Those attending the service are encouraged to wear dark purple, the color representing pancreatic cancer awareness, in honor of Brian’s strength and perseverance throughout his illness.
