Robert L. Brandon III

June 29, 1941 — May 31, 2026

Dover

Mr. Robert Love Brandon, III, loving known to his family as 'Baby Robert' age 84 of Dover, TN passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital with his loving and devoted family by his side. He was born in Bumpus Mills, TN the son of Robert Love Brandon, Jr. and Mary Opal Cunningham Brandon.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his nephew, Bradley Lewis.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 30 years, Sue Louise Brandon; sons, Robin Brandon (Lori), Jeff Brandon, Richie Brandon (Kathy), Lonnie Muller (Rhonda); daughter, Janet Brandon Kreps; stepsons, Kevin Newman (Brandi) and Eric Newman (Miguel); sisters, Deborah 'Debs' Lewis and Marianna Nolen (Danny); 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.

Before going to be with our Lord and Savior, Baby Robert lived a life worth celebrating, leaving many friends and relatives. His father, Robert, Jr. was at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941 when he was only 6 months old, so he was always very service oriented. He became a Sailor in the Viet Nam War where, from the Combat Information Center of his small boy ship, he plotted their course and direction using a slide rule and a protractor. Later, on his Aircraft Carriers, he directed, by radio, the tracking and rescue of downed American Pilots from Viet Nam. He rose to be a Senior Chief Operations Specialist and retired from the U.S. Navy young, at only 37 years old. In later years, he was an Airplane Pilot himself, flying internationally and when he was grounded, he became a Pirate, sailing uncharted waters in the Caribbean with his brave crew of Diamond Dave and Jr Wallace. In his nearly 85 years, he went to Memphis and learned how to become a Lumber Grader with his good friends Arthur Monroe and Eddie and he joined up with his friend Jerry Swift to grade lumber for Jerry in his new lumber business. He enjoyed traveling with his favorite Hunny Bunny and loving wife of 30 years, Sue, and they traveled all over the world together. He was a kind and gentle soul, a fighter his whole life, and a very smart man who could do almost anything. He will be missed until we meet again, with Our Savior.
