Jessie Rex Barnes, 80 of Dover, TN passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Patient's Choice Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 am at Anglin Funeral Home with Pastor Phoebe Jowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor's Chapel UMC Cemetery, Dover, TN. Visitation will be Friday, December 30, 2011 from 4-7:00 pm with a Masonic Service following at 7:00 pm at Anglin Funeral Home. Mr. Barnes was born in Stewart Co., TN son of the late Euland D. and Della Carr Barnes. He was a former employee of B.F. Goodrich, Trane Co. and retired from CEMC, a member of Taylor's Chapel United Methodist Church, member of Iron Mountain Masonic Lodge and a U.S. Army Korean Veteran. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Barnes, and sisters Pauline Knott and Ruth Allen. Survivors include his wife, Mary Emma Andrews Barnes, Dover, TN; son, Todd A. Barnes, Dover, TN; brother, E.D. Barnes (Sue), Dover, TN; sisters, Estelle Shemwell, Big Rock, TN, Margaret Lyons (Van), Franklin, TN and Doris Kroeger, Franklin, TN. Pallbearers will be nephews. Rex was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing the Kentucky and Barkley lakes. He followed NASCAR racing and for several years attended the Atlanta races. He also loved baseball, both playing on the Standing Rock team as a young man and watching his favorite team--the Atlanta Braves-- on TV. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Taylor’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 635 Taylor’s Chapel Road, Dover, TN 37058.
