Norma Jean Jackson, lovingly known as "Memaw," passed away on November 5, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on October 23, 1935, Norma was a lifelong resident of Dover, Tennessee, where she was born, raised, and spent her life surrounded by the people and places she loved.
Norma attended Stewart County High School and was a woman whose life was defined by hard work, dedication, loyalty, and an unwavering love for her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she found joy in the simple things that made life special.
Whether riding her bicycle, going fishing, or making homemade biscuits and turnip greens, Norma enjoyed the things that brought comfort, happiness, and togetherness. Her hardworking spirit and loving heart were evident in the way she cared for those around her. She was devoted to her family, and the memories made around her, especially those involving her cooking and the everyday moments of life, will be cherished for generations.
Norma was a Christian and attended a New Haven Methodist church near her home. Her faith was an important part of her life, and her family takes comfort in knowing that her earthly journey has come to an end, but her legacy of love will continue through the many lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Herman Jackson; her parents, Haywood and Henrietta Wyatt; and her sister, Shirley (Dean) Elliott.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory: her children, Steven (Deloris) Jackson, Dion Jackson, and Jeannine Jackson; her long time companion, Bob Dennis; her grandchildren, Charlsey (Scott) Long, Katelyn (David) Champlin, and Alan Jackson; her great-grandchildren, Hope (Austin) Buford, Faith (Jack) Mnich, Charity Long, Jackson Champlin, Kora Champlin, and Kallie Champlin; and her great-great-grandchildren, Lucy Mnich, Beckham Buford, and Peter Mnich. She also leaves behind three step-great-grandchildren, Arianah, Ivan, and Oaklee, who were part of the family she loved.
Though she will be deeply missed, the love Norma poured into her family will never be forgotten. Her legacy lives on in the generations she helped shape, the traditions she passed down, the lessons she taught through her hard work and devotion, and the countless memories that will forever bring smiles to the faces of those who knew her.
To her family, she will always be Memaw. And while her chair may now be empty, the love she gave will remain in their hearts forever.
