Mrs. Norma Louise Compton, age 89, of Dover, Tennessee, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Dover Care Center. Born on February 9, 1936, in Murray, Kentucky, she was the cherished daughter of the late Otis Edward Steele and Kaite Acree Steele.
A devoted member of the Dover Church of Christ throughout her life, Mrs. Norma lived with quiet strength, enduring faith, and a deep love for her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose presence was a steady comfort in the lives of those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Sonny" Compton; her daughter, Wanda Taylor; and her siblings, Joe Acree Steele, Otis Steele, and Mary Ella Mills.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children, James Compton (Darla) and Barbara Smith (Steve); her seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Each carries forward the values she so dearly held—love, faith, and family.
A graveside service honoring Mrs. Norma’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Hillcrest Cemetery, with Bro. William Gray officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Smith, Tyler Smith, Ayden Smith, Derek Compton, Kyle Compton, Kaden Compton, and Travis Compton.
