In 1963, the family moved to Casa Grande, Arizona, where she attended Casa Grande High School and was outstanding in the fields of arts and acting. During her working years, it was discovered she had myotonic muscular dystrophy. Nan continued working and even after becoming wheelchair bound, she continued keeping the books and budget at home. She also enjoyed knitting and jigsaw puzzles, many of which were framed and now hang in the house. She spent many happy hours on the computer emailing friends, posting of Facebook and playing games.
