Michael Cunningham

Mr. Michael Cunningham, age 61 of Dover, TN, passed away, Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Continue Care Hospital at Baptist Health Paducah. He was born June 24, 1958 in Clarksville, TN, son of the late Oscar Boyd and Lucy Ann Wallace Cunningham.
Michael retied for the State of Tennessee. His first position was in the Old Dover Elementary School where he fired the boiler every night to keep the school warm. He then moved on to the school food service area where he prepared meals and served them to the children. He left there to go to Paris Landing State Park kitchen and dining room where he worked his way to head chef. Retiring in 2017 with 30 years of service. He made many friends who became extended to him and his family.
Michael loved traveling. His many trips took him to the New England states, Savanah, GA, (Paula Deen) and surrounding areas. He loved the Smokey Mountains and visited every year until the disease stopped his traveling. Family and friends are what kept him motivated. (especially FaceBook) He also loved singing and dancing. His favorite was inspirational music as he was a true believer of Christ.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Faye Greenhill, and niece, Lydia Allen. Survivors include his brothers, Jerry Cunningham (Janie), Dover, TN, Gerald Cunningham, (Beth) Benton, KY, sisters, Sue Phippen, Dover, Melinda Thompson (Gary), Cadiz, KY, Brenda Hanley, Medford, MA, and Paulette Allen (Robert), Indian Mound, TN.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the First Christian Church of Dover with Father William Thompson officiating.
