Melvin Lockwood

Melvin Lockwood, 89, Dover, passed away, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral service will be at 3:00 pm Saturday at Anglin Funeral Home, Dover, with Bro. Dean Lee and Bro. Ronnie Burgess officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Friday at Anglin Funeral Home and from 12:00 pm until the hour of service Saturday. Mr. Lockwood was born November 1, 1921 in Stewart County, son of the late William and Ludie Fitzhugh Lockwood. He was a carpenter and a member of the Mt. View Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He was highly respected in the community. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Amelia Lockwood Jones. Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Geneva Lockwood, Dover, daughter, Nelda Filson Young, Dover, grandchildren, Ronnie Jones, Regena Nunn, Dana Baggett, Christa Blane, Tim Filson, and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Jones, Tim Filson, Laken Blane, Devin Nunn, Stanley Nunn, and Mark Nunn.
