Melvin 'Jackie' Hargis

Melvin “Jackie” Hargis, 69, of Cadiz, KY, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 14, 1956, in Stewart County, TN, to the late Madison Hargis and Betty Simpson Hargis Wallace.

Jackie was an outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, hunting, and taking leisurely drives to simply “look at things.” He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Hargis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Debra Taylor Hargis; his daughter and son-in-law, Melody Hargis Wolfe and Michael Wolfe; his grandchildren, Kaleb Wolfe (Madison) and Kelsey Wolfe-Laven (Austin); his great-grandchildren, Mary Sue Laven and Luke Laven; his sisters, Shirley Hargis and Rosie Hargis Page (Jamie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A private service will be held in his honor, with interment at Greenhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Michael Wolfe, Kaleb Wolfe, Jeff Higgs, Mason Higgs, Cody Boyles, and Noah Boyles.
