Margaret Ross

Margaret Aileen Atkins Ross died on July 14, 2012 at Alive Hospice in Nashville Tennessee. She was born in Stewart County Tennessee on March 2, 1917 to Allen and Maggie Wilson Atkins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Ross; brother, Ross Atkins; sisters, Edith Murphy, Pearl Richardson, Harriet Wright, Pauline Bueche, and Mattie Murray.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Anglin Funeral Home, Dover, with Reverend Jacqueline Martin officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday at Anglin Funeral Home and from 10 am until the time of service Wednesday. Burial will be in Stewart County Memorial Gardens, Dover, TN.
During World War II, Aileen worked at B.F. Goodrich making gas masks. After the war, she worked as an operator for South Central Bell. In 1954 she married Woodrow Ross and moved to Bumpus Mills, where they farmed. They had two daughters, Joan and Jane. Later, Aileen worked at the Bumpus Mills post office, where she became Postmaster, until her retirement. When Woodrow died, Aileen moved to Clarksville to be close to her daughters and grandchildren. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of Bumpus Mills United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her daughters, Joan Ross and Jane Burney, son-in-law, Jesse Burney, grandchildren Cale and Chelsea Burney, brother Kelly Atkins, future grandson-in-law Will Cantrell, and friend and caregiver Cynthia Moseley.
Pallbearers will be Cale Burney, Mike Atkins, Will Cantrell, Dale Swift, Dennis Bevier and Steve Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be the United Methodist Women.
Donations can be made to Bumpus Mills United Methodist Church or Alive Hospice.
