Dover

Lewis Ray Walker, 79, of Dover, Tennessee, peacefully passed away at his home on the morning of June 18, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer disease. Surrounded by his loving family, Lewis found peace after battling the long illness.

Born on October 24, 1946, in Bear Spring, Tennessee, Lewis was the son of the late Clinton Lee Walker and Lille Mae Glasgow Walker. He was a proud graduate of W.T. Thomas School in Cumberland City, Tennessee.

Lewis was predeceased in death by his parents; his brothers, Delmus Walker and Charles Walker; his sisters, Helen Austin and Nell Nelson; his stepchildren, Amy Jagers and Jonathan Jagers; and his grandson, Jude Jagers.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 30 years, Gayle Walker; his sisters, Carrie (the late Gene) Whitehead and Carolyn (Donnie) Boyd; his stepchildren, Jeremiah (Carrie) Jagers, Joshua (Vanessa) Jagers, and Sarah (Ricky) McDaniel; his daughter-in-law, Robin Jagers; his beloved grandchildren, Synthia (Quez), Jordan (Alex), Jebediah (Maddie), Hannah, Violet, Sarah (Cody), Jered (Destiny), John (Keonni), Chelsea, Chase (Cassandra), Logan (Ally), Jessie, and Jenny; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Major, Majesty, Ariana, MJ, Miracle, Harmony, Austin, Dakota, Camden, ElianaLeilani, Isabella, Walker, and Rylan.

Lewis spent most of his life in Tennessee and parts of Kentucky, building custom homes and earning a respected reputation as a Master Logger, a profession he truly loved. He believed that life was what you made of it and lived each day with honesty, integrity, loyalty, and an unmatched work ethic. Those who knew Lewis often described him as one of the hardest- working and most trustworthy men they had ever met.

He held a deep love for Dover and was especially proud of his roots in Bear Spring. Lewis also proudly served his country in the Army/Air Force National Guard as a rifleman, attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-5), from 1965 to 1971.

Throughout his battle with Alzheimer disease, Lewis and his family faced each day together with courage, faith, and love. While Alzheimer may have taken his memories, it never diminished the strength of his spirit or the love he shared with those around him. His family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace.
