SFC Lester Richard Linville, Sr., ARMY (Retired), age 75 of Dover, TN passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 22, 1948 in Nez Perce County, Idaho.
Bill was lovingly deemed the Mayor of Edenway by his friends and neighbors. He retired from the U.S. Army after 32 years of service. He served in Alpha Company, 8/101st Aviation Battalion, 101st Airborne Division Ft. Campbell, KY. He also retired from Civil Service, where he worked overseas on multiple occasions with Amcom/Red Stone.
He was a professional soldier and aviation genius on helicopters and fixed wings. The military and civilian aviation community has lost a great man. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Treva Reese and his wife, Cynthia Linville. Survivors include his children, Lester Richard Linville, Jr., Rodger Brodman, and Renee Brodman; goddaughter, Vonda Reed; grandchildren, Carissa, Logan, Hunter, Alexis, Dakota, Byron, and Cindy-Lynn; great grandchild, Jamié; and his beloved pets, James and Alice.
Visitation for Mr. Linville will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, June 17 at Anglin Funeral Home, the funeral service will be at 7:00 pm. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, KY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Bill may be made to the veteran’s organization of your choice.
