Judieth Byrd Burkhart

Judieth Johnson Byrd Burkhart passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 1, 1948 the biological daughter of the late Aaron Johnson and the late Virginia Wolfe Johnson Riddle and stepdaughter of the late Ernest Riddle. She was raised by the late Everett and late Margaret Johnson. She was the wife of the late John Thomas Byrd and the late Halbert Burkhart.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Byrd Winfrey (the late Clay Winfrey), Carrie Byrd Peppers (Danny) and Margaret Byrd Burkhart, sister Janice Bryant, 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 9 great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was a talented published quilter and loved crocheting with her little dog, Dixie Bee in her lap. She cooked the best fried chicken. In early life, she was a beautician.

As per her wishes, she will be cremated and have a graveside service at Fairview Cemetery on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Danny Peppers and Jackson Hawkins officiating. She will be laid to rest next to John Byrd who was the love of her life.
