Steve Downs

Mr. Steve Downs, age 85, of Indian Mound, TN, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, with his family by his side. Born on August 18, 1939, he was the beloved son of John Williams and Anthanet Hawkes Downs.

Steve was a hardworking man and a devoted provider for his family, whom he loved deeply. He enjoyed farming and tending to his cows, finding joy in the simplicity of rural life. He was a dedicated employee of the Trane Company until his retirement and proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Steve was deeply loved by his family, and the memories they shared will be cherished for a lifetime.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Anthanet Downs, brothers, J.W. Grizzard, Otho Downs, Claude Downs, and Leonard Downs; sisters, Dolly Carter and Belva Wallace.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Ford Downs; his children, Joy Coy (Mike) and Jan Gunter (Chris); grandchildren, Allison Parker (Jake), Miranda Anglin (Landon), Emma Taylor, Ella Gunter, and Easton Gunter; and grandchildren by marriage, Kortney Denison (Aaron) and Hunter Coy (Jenna).

A visitation will be held at Anglin Funeral Home on Sunday, August 17, 2025, beginning at 12:00 p.m., and will continue until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Jeff Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Indian Mound, TN. Serving as pallbearers are Brian Mullins, Connor Mullins, Devin Mullins, Mike Lee, Dwight Austin, and Keith Austin.
