John B. Bryant 'JB'

Mr. John Bishop Bryant, fondly known as JB, age 91, of Indian Mound, TN, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025 at Tennova Hospital, Clarksville, TN, with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 29, 1933, the son of Herbert Cecil and Anna Elvira Pickens Bryant.

JB was a devoted provider and hard worker throughout his life. His early years were spent farming and working at ACME Boot before beginning a long career at the Trane Company, where he retired after 34 years of dedicated service. Even in retirement, he remained active and found great joy in farming and gardening; watching the fruits of his labor grow and thrive.

A man of deep faith, JB loved the Lord and was a faithful servant. He served as a deacon at Dunbar Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, embodying a life rooted in faith, simplicity, and family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and a loyal friend to all who had the honor of knowing him.

JB is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Anna Bryant; brothers, Bobby Bryant and Cullen 'Billy' Bryant; and brother-in-law, Doug Nall.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy Elliott Bryant; children, Dottie Jean Markuson (Michael), Michael Bryant and Jennifer Hancock (Charlie); sister, Mildred Nall; grandchildren, Noelle Markuson, Elliot Markuson, Kayla James (Davis), Hilliary Brown (Caleb), and Emily Hancock; great-grandson, Wylie Brown; and his two cherished cats, Punkin and T.T.

A visitation and funeral service will be held at Anglin Funeral Home on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Bro. Sam Henderson. Burial will follow at Dunbar Chapel Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Michael Markuson, Elliot Markuson, Charlie Hancock, Caleb Brown, Steven Bryant and Robert Allen.

The family wishes to extend a special 'Thank You' to Dr. Jigar Shah, MD and staff, Stewart County Ambulance Service, Tennova Hospital and Tennova Hospice for their service, support and love shown to JB and the family.

In lieu of memorials, the family request donations be made to Dunbar Chapel Cemetery Fund in JB's memory.
