Joe Atkins

Joe Crawford Atkins, 79, of Dover, TN passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at his residence. He was born June 17, 1937 in Cottage Grove, TN, son of the late James Butler and Anita Crawford Atkins. Mr. Atkins served 31 years with the U.S. Army. He is a Vietnam Veteran, was a member of the Church of Christ, member of the Iron Mountain Lodge #544, lifetime member of the NRA, and was a Gunsmith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Vivianne Anita McWherter. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sigrid Fleischer Atkins, son, James Butler Atkins (Michele), Milan, TN, daughters, Nadia Atkins Brigham (Andy), Dover, TN, Christine Susan Atkins Hale (Rodney), AL, brother, Billy Atkins, Dresden, TN and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bonds, Michael Brittner, Crystal Peters, Andrew Brigham, Alex Brigham, Elizabeth Atkins, Emilee Atkins and Zachary James.
Funeral and masonic services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Anglin Funeral Home with Rev. Don Bailey officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Stewart County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 10:30 am until the hour of service. Pallbearers will be Michael Brittner, Andrew Brigham, Zachary James, Benjamin Bonds, Jim Atkins and Andy Brigham. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anglin Funeral Home.
