Mr. James ‘Jimmy’ Bates, age 73 of Paris, TN passed away peacefully at Jackson-Madison County Hospital with loving family by his side. Born in Paris on December 16, 1951, the beloved son of the late Walter Marshall and Mary ‘Mar-celle’ Cooper Bates.
Jimmy dedicated 40 years of service to Dana Incorporated where he worked as a floor supervisor. After retirement he worked 6 years at Henry School where he met students with big high fives and greeted the teachers with hot coffee, bringing joy to everyone he met. He embraced his love for the outdoors, finding joy in hunting and fishing. An avid CB enthusiast, he enjoyed connecting with others through his radio hobby. Jimmy also took pride in his role as a Grill Master, delighting in preparing delicious meals to share with family and friends. Jimmy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loyal friend to everyone. In life, he never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother; Jerry Dale Bates and sister, Sue Nolen.
He leaves behind the family he cherished; loving wife, Felicia Bratton Bates; son, James Bates (Nancy); daughter, Jennifer Rader both of Paris, TN; brother, Johnny Bates (Charita) of Puryear, TN; grandchildren, Ethan Anderson (Hailey), Conner Clark, Collin Bates and Hollis Bates; great-granddaughter, Harper Anderson.
In keeping with Jimmy’s wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Benton County.
