Jess Williard Taylor, Cowboy Jess , 92, Dover, died left us to be with God, Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Henry Co. Medical Center, Paris, TN. The funeral will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday at Anglin Funeral Home with Earl Claud officiating. Burial will be in Stewart Co. Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm Saturday at Anglin Funeral Home at Anglin Funeral Home.
Anglin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Jess was a long time resident of Dover, TN and a faithful member of the Church of Christ for over 50 years. He was born in Big Rock, TN on October 7, 1917 son the late George and Louise Martin Taylor. He worked as an entertainer with a string band for many years, traveling around the U.S. In 1942 he moved to Flint, MI where he retired from GM as a Job Setter. He served his country in the U.S. Army in WWII. His dream was to go back to Tennessee and returned here in the early 80's. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a devout servant of God and converted many with his extensive knowledge of the bible and love for Christ. He will be missed for his guitar picking and singing to his grandchildren as well as his unconditional love and devotion to his wife and family. He always greeted everyone with a smile and a handshake as he was taught by his grandfather. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter and ten siblings. He will be missed by his wife of 67 years, Irene Wright Taylor; sons, George Taylor, Clio, MI and Jess David Taylor, Dover, TN; daughters, Rose Perry, Burton, MI, Carol Balcomb, Mt. Morris, MI, Rebecca Anderson, Georgetown, KY; forty-three grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. Pallbearers will be family.
