Jerry Peacher

Jerry Thomas Peacher, age 91, of Indian Mound passed away January 15, 2014. Visitation will be on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 5-8:00 pm and on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 10-11:00 am at Anglin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at Anglin Funeral Home with Bro. Willis Castile officiating. Burial will follow in the Seay Cemetery, Indian Mound, TN. Arrangements are in care of Anglin Funeral Home, Dover, TN. Jerry was born March 15, 1922 in Indian Mound, TN, the youngest child of Ernest William and Eddie Leon Vaughan Peacher. His siblings were, William Tedie(died at age 2), Essie Ernestine Moore(deceased), Joseph William(deceased) and Nancy Aline Wortham(deceased). He married Hallie Marie Chandler(deceased) on January 11, 1947. Survivors include his three children, Dan Jerry(Dabney Hadley), Anita Nan(Samuel Hawkins) and Eva Marie(Barry Smith). There are seven grandchildren, Tim Hawkins(Tamara), Jean Kash(Ben), Rachel Peacher, William Peacher(Courtney), Mark Smith, Melissa Smith and Marshall Smith, eight great grandchildren, Brianna Eisan(Kris), Kelsey Hawkins, Tyler Hawkins, Megan Hawkins, Liam Kash, Chandler Kash, Daniel Peacher and Lilly Peacher. Jerry was raised in Indian Mound during the depression era. He attended Big Rock High School graduating in 1941, served in the Army from 1944 to 1945 in Belguim and Germany during World War II. After the war, Jerry taught agriculture, chemistry and biology at Woodlawn High School for a short time. He then taught the same subjects at W.T. Thomas School, Cumberland City, where he became principal. The years at W.T. Thomas were some of his best years. He looked forward to every class reunion he could attend. He retired Vocational Transportation Supervisor for Stewart County Schools. From the mid 60's to the mid 70's, he was chairman of the Election Commission and from 1968-1984, he was a bank director and president of Farmers Bank and Trust in Indian Mound. He was also on the CEMC board of directors from 1974-2013. Jerry was a life-long farmer raising cattle, hay and tobacco. When he found the time, he would build a house for resale. He was a member of the Indian Mound Masonic Lodge. He really enjoyed travel, dancing at the Senior Citizens of Clarksville, playing the piano and singing, and being with the many friends they have made and kept over the years. He loved to sit on the front porch, feed and watch the migrating geese on the pond each winter. Family was always his priority. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He stayed busy and enjoyed his life. Pallbearers will be grandsons and a great grandson.
