Jeannette Donahue

Ms. Jeannette “Jan” Marie Donahue, age 82, of McKee, KY, formerly of Dover, TN peacefully departed this life on October 3, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her beloved family.

Born on February 19, 1942, in Cresson, PA, Jan was the cherished daughter of the late Maurice McDermit and Anna O’Hara McDermit. She brought light and joy to all who knew her, and will be remembered for her warm spirit, and unwavering love for her family.

A paralegal in Nashville, TN, Jan’s professional life was marked by her intelligence, diligence, and compassion. Yet, her true passion lay in the arts. An accomplished oil painter, Jan found beauty in the world around her and shared it through her vibrant creations, leaving a legacy of creativity.

Jan was a founding member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Dover, TN, where she nurtured her faith and community ties. Her devotion extended beyond the church; she was a cornerstone of support and love for her family and friends, always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand.

Jan’s legacy lives on in her children: Mary Anne Lee, Theresa Darwin (Michael) Joseph Donahue (Kristy), Patrick Donahue (Mary), Meghan Donahue and Michael Donahue (Kristen). She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, and a loving great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

A Funeral Mass will be held in her honor on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Rev. F. Vimal Backiyaraj officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 11:00 AM until the service begins. She will be laid to rest at Smith Cemetery, Big Rock, TN. Serving as pallbearers, Christopher Alton, Garrett Alton, Colton Donahue, Jonathan Donahue, Patrick Donahue, Joseph Donahue and Michael Donahue.

Jan will be remembered by all who knew her as a beacon of love and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1523 Donelson Pkwy, Dover, TN 37058, to honor her lifelong commitment to her faith and community.
