James Lewis

Mr. James R. Lewis "Jimmy", age 79, of Cumberland City, TN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. He was born on November 9, 1945, in Akron, OH, to the late James Roy Lewis, Jr. and Mary Charlene Johnson Lewis.

Jimmy was a lifelong member of Paul’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Cumberland City, TN. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a dedicated member of the Boilermakers Union Local 455. Known for his love of the outdoors, Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hunting, and all things nature. His passions, along with his warm heart and dedication to his family, left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was a fine man.

Jimmy is survived by his lifelong friend and devoted wife of 47 years, Mary Clo Watts Lewis; his daughters, Brandi Shepherd (Casey) and Scarlet Young; his cherished grandchildren, Elleigh, Emily, Mark Ryan (Torey), and Ashley (Scott); and his beloved great-grandchildren, Blakeley, Olivia, Beau, Easton, and Kali. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at Anglin Funeral Home in Dover, TN, on Thursday, December 12, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, and again on Friday, December 13, from 11:30 am until the hour of service. A funeral service will follow on Friday, December 13, at 1:30 pm at Anglin Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Tom Halliburton and Bro. Joel Nulty. Burial will take place in the Cumberland City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Michael Eades, Jamie Gafford, Ray Gafford, Ryan Parker, Jacob Sanders, and Cliff Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Grizzard, Dustin Lewis, Jerry Eades, Mike Hamilton, and members of Boilermakers Local 455.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paul’s Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Regions Bank or the Stewart County Cancer Society c/o of F&M Bank.
