James Grasty

James Buford Grasty, 86, Indian Mound, TN went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 15, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Anglin Funeral Home with Bro. Don Lee and Bro. Mike Howard officiating. Burial will be in the Seay cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 3-9 pm and Monday, July 18, 2011 from 9am - 1pm at Anglin Funeral Home. Mr. Grasty was born March 25, 1925 son of the late Buford and Mina Robinson Grasty. He was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran serving on the USS Champion, retired from Ft. Campbell, KY as a civil service painter, member and past Master of Indian Mound Masonic Lodge #303 and a life-long member of Indian Mound United Methodist Church. He married his wife, Nell Vaughan Grasty of 63 years on October 3, 1947 in Hopkinsville, KY. They lived happily together in a small house in Indian Mound, TN for the duration of their marriage. Mr. Grasty enjoyed life. He was a devout Christian and a faithful churchgoer who loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. He had a passion for music, which included serving as the song leader at his church for many years, and singing and playing harmonica in the Red Toppers Band. He enjoyed farming and was especially known for raising watermelons. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten, by his family, friends, church and community. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death his sisters, Myrtle Grasty and Ida Mae Speight, brother, Bobby Grasty and infant stillborn son, Wayne Buford Grasty. Survivors include his wife, Nell Vaughan Grasty, daughter, Nelda Hayes and husband, Delmer of Indian Mound, TN, daughter, Pansy Morgan and husband Donnie, of Big Rock, TN, son, Marty Grasty and wife, Lisa of Indian Mound, TN, daughter, Ginger Wallace and husband Reggie of Indian Mound, TN, sister, Manie Speight of Clarksville, TN and brother, Delano Grasty of Indian Mound, TN, grandchildren, Rayann Rose, Regina Keatts, Kelly Bramlett, Keith Hayes, Jeff Robertson, Jeremy Robertson, Kristen Timmons, Jarrett Grasty, Jenny Roecker, and Lesley Wallace plus nineteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jeff Robertson, Jeremy Robertson, Keith Hayes, Jarrett Grasty, David Rose, Johnny Keatts, Brian Bramlett, Jonathan Timmons, and Justin Roecker. Honorary pallbearers will be Rayann Rose, Regina Keatts, Kelly Bramlett, Kristen Timmons, Jenny Roecker and Lesley Wallace. In lieu of other memorials, you may wish to send a donation to the Indian Mound United Methodist Church, 200 Rorie Hollow Rd, Indian Mound, TN 37079, in honor of Mr. Grasty.
