Mr. James Goodall, 83, of Springville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Henry County Hospital in Paris, Tennessee. Born on September 29, 1942, he was the beloved son of Robert Shelby Goodall and Nellie Brown Goodall.
After completing high school, James enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country, including a tour in Vietnam. During his military career, he specialized in working aboard aircraft carriers. He was deeply proud of his service and often shared stories and memories of his time serving on Navy ships.
Following his honorable military service, James embarked on a career as a Union Carpenter, dedicating more than 30 years to the trade. He poured his heart into his work and greatly enjoyed the camaraderie of working alongside his fellow craftsmen.
An avid fisherman, James was always eager to cast a line in pursuit of "the big one." He found peace and happiness on the water, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Whether fishing a favorite spot or simply enjoying the outdoors, he treasured every moment spent in God's creation.
James was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and sought to live his life according to his faith. His kindness, strong work ethic, patriotism, and unwavering faith will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love that will continue to inspire his family and friends for years to come.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his brother; Tipton A. Goodall and sister, Linda E. Harvington.
James leaves behind his brothers; Thomas D. Goodall (Karen), Jarvis P. Goodall (Reva), Terry T. Goodall (Linda); sisters, Lorraine Hignight (Dennis), Karen E. Waddell; double cousin, Charles Goodall (Vernita), many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 10:00 am with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at 1:30 pm at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads ; 693 Wildersville Rd, Wildersville, TN 38388. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
