James "Sonny" Compton, 78 of Dover, TN passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Dover Church of Christ with Johnny Polk officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 from 11:30 am until the hour of service at the Dover Church of Christ.
He was born November 30, 1935 in Stewart Co., TN son of the late Jack and Mary Perry Compton. Mr. Compton was owner and operator of Compton Service Center. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Compton and Don Compton. Survivors include his wife, Norma Steele Compton, Dover, TN, son, James Compton, Dover, TN, daughters, Barbara Smith, Dover, TN, Wanda Taylor, Erin, TN, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
In lieu of other memorials, donations may be made to help the family with funeral expenses.
