James L. Boren, 84, of Dover, TN, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Tennova Hospital in Clarksville, TN. He was born on September 5, 1941, in Trigg County to the late Jesse L. and Mary Magdaline Madrey Boren. He grew up in Model, TN and graduated from Stewart County High School in 1959.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by half brothers Troy Boren (Ruby) and Willard Boren (Leona) and half sisters Lurline Stalls (Ernest) and Lona Morgan (Elbert), and sister-in-law Carol Boren.
After graduating high school he enlisted in the Army and served three years. After leaving the Army he worked in Dill's grocery store in Dover. He then worked with TVA on the Columbia Dam and then transferred to LBL where he retired in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Betty T. Boren, (They were married for 60 years.), two daughters, Melody Boren and Wendy Watson (Terry), two granddaughters, Melina Watson and Makayla Curtis (Justin), brother Dale Boren, sister-in-law Evelyn Steele, and several nieces and nephews.
James was a devoted Christian and was a faithful member of Stewart Church of Christ. He also preached at Stewart for eight years.
Glen Glenn will be officiating the graveside service on Sunday, November 23, at Stewart County Memorial Garden in Dover, TN. at 3:00 pm. Pallbearers are Justin Curtis, Greg Boren, Jimmy Boren, Jacob Beard, Miles Mayo, and Josh Mayo.
Arrangements are entrusted to Anglin Funeral Home.
