Major Ret. Harold L. Boyd, 82, of Dover, passed away January 18, 2016 at Diversicare of Dover.
He was born April 7, 1933, in Dover, the son of Frank and Patti Boyd. He graduated from Stewart County High School and the University of Nebraska Omaha. He was the first Warrant Officer to be approved for the bootstrap college program.
He served in the US Army for 20 years. During his service, he flew both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft at military postings in the US, Germany, Viet Nam, and Korea. After retirement in 1973, he continued his career as a pilot for Aircraft Services (Salina, KS), Air Midwest (Wichita, KS), Mesa Airlines (Farmington, NM), and Blue Beacon (Salina, KS).
Hal is survived by his wife, Shirley, and their children, Tina (Jerry) Graham, David Boyd, and Lauri Boyd, grandchildren are Deron (Stephanie) Graham, Robert Graham, Matthew (Catherine) Boyd, Alan Boyd, and Tyler Boyd.
Hal is also survived by his siblings Perrie (Loretta) Boyd, Donnie (Carolyn) Boyd, Robert (Evelyn) Boyd, Lodema Crutcher, Frances (Bud) Finley, Ruth Grimes, Faye Abercrombie, and Mary Boyd.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Patti Boyd, and his siblings, Howard (Billie Jean) Boyd, Margie (Roscoe) Batton, and Dale Boyd.
The memorial service will be held at Anglin Funeral Home, Dover, TN, at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 23, 2016, with Pastor Pheobe Jowers officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am.
