Gene Burkhart

Martin "Gene" Burkhart, 71, Big Rock, TN passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 11:00 am at Anglin Funeral Home with Revs. David Whitehead and Morris Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Big Rock, TN. Visitation will be on Monday, May 21, 2012 from 4-7:00 pm and on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 9-11:00 am at Anglin Funeral Home. Masonic services will be on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 7:00 pm. He was born June 3, 1940 in Stewart Co., TN son of the late James W. and Mildred Perrin Burkhart. Mr. Burkhart was a retired Chief Engineer for Ingram Barge Co., he was a Shriner, member of the Lineport Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star and Big Rock Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Delmar, Willard and L.D. Burkhart. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Monk Burkhart, Big Rock, TN; sons, Mickey Burkhart, Big Rock, TN and Mark(Margaret) Burkhart Indian Mound, TN; sisters, Peggy (Charles) Cook Sango, TN, Faye (Gary) Ziegler Sildell, LA, Brenda (Kenneth) Smith Big Rock, TN; grandchildren, Chelsea (Evan) Wooten Lance Burkhart, Zack Burkhart and Devin Burkhart. Pallbearers will be Greg Crockarell, Mack Butts, Bill Cobb, Russell Luffman, Randall Redmon, Gary Threatt and David Bryant.
