Mr. Garland L. (Sonny) Humphries, age 73 of Stewart, TN, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.
He was born May 3, 1946 in Qulin, MO, son of the late Garland F. and Myrtle Campbell Humphries. Mr. Humphries was a Navy Veteran and a retiree of General Motors in Flint, MI. He has resided in Stewart County for 22 years and has been an elder at Mt. View Cumberland Presbyterian Church since 2010. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to those he left to mourn his passing.
Mr. Humphries is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara, daughters, Tracy Lindstrom (Scott) and Jodi Humphries, stepson, Edward Racette, sisters, Glendia Cunningham, Robin Puff (Randy), and Carolyn Dinning (Danny), brothers, Richard Humphries (LouAnn) and Kenneth Humphries (Helen), sister-in-law, Eileen Oakley, brother-in-law, Douglas Stewart (Pat), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends throughout the country. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Humphries.
His remains have been cremated and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Anglin Funeral Home, Dover, TN.
