Mrs. Flora Mae Hughes, fondly known as Mrs. Flo, age 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 9, 1933, to the late Wilson and Beulah Griggs Spraggs.

Mrs. Flo was a loving and devoted homemaker who always put her family first. She especially enjoyed having her family gathered in the kitchen, sharing laughter and enjoying a good home cooked meal together. She was known for making the best peach cobbler, and serving it warm from the oven was one of her specialties.

Mrs. Flo treasured her quiet times spent reading her Bible and Christian books that brought her comfort and joy. When time allowed, she also enjoyed settling in to watch a good television western.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Hughes, Sr.; son, Ronnie Penrod; and daughters, Rosemary Meadows and Christine King.

Mrs. Flo is survived by her loving son, James Penrod (Sharon); sister, Phyllis Dailey; and several extended family members who will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Flo will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to the Lord, her deep love for her family, and the warmth and joy she brought into the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will remain in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will be deeply missed.
