Eugene Gibbs

Mr. Eugene Percy Gibbs, age 86, of Dover, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Dover Care Center. He was the beloved son of the late Cecil and Clara Herndon Gibbs.

Mr. Eugene loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Fort Donelson United Methodist Church. His faith was the guiding light of his life, and he lived by the principle of treating others as he would want to be treated. He loved his family deeply and will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As the son of a car dealer, Eugene grew up learning the ins and outs of the automobile business. After completing his education, he became the owner of Gibbs Motor Sales in Dover, a responsibility and honor he never took lightly. He genuinely cared for his customers and employees, building relationships that extended far beyond business. Whether helping with an oil change, selling a vehicle, or simply sharing a conversation, Eugene became a valued part of the lives of many in the community.

Following his retirement, Eugene enjoyed spending time with friends on fishing trips. He also maintained a lifelong passion for classic cars and motorcycles, attending local car shows and traveling to events throughout the region. It was a passion that never faded and brought him great enjoyment throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Betty Ann Gibbs.

Mr. Eugene is survived by his loving and devoted children; Joann Gibbs Hicks and Bronson Gibbs; grandson and wife, Adam and Lindsey Hicks; great granddaughters, Adair Hicks and Maura Hicks; sister, Mary Esther Whitehead; his niece and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Mr. Binks.

A visitation will be held at Anglin Funeral Home on Sunday, May 31, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Willie Lyle officiating. Burial will follow at Stewart County Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
