Elizabeth Florence Shakesby, 91, Bumpus Mills, passed away, Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Manor House of Dover. Anglin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date in New York.
She was born March 15, 1920, in Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of George and Gloria O'Connell Wyatt. During World War II, Mrs. Shakesby served as a telephone operator for the Royal Army in England. After the War, she worked as a telephone operator for Ford Motor Company of Britain.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Sidney Shakesby, her brothers David and Bernard Shakesby, and her sisters Norah Cameron and Kitty Knight.
Survivors include her children, Paul Shakesby of Bumpus Mills, and Anthony Shakesby of Long Island, New York, as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
