Elaine Kirkland

Elaine Kirkland, 61 of Indian Mound, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at her residence. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with Brother Melvin Dunaway officiating. Burial will be at the Kirkland-Martin-Gillum Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 - 8 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and Sunday from 1 until the hour of service at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Kirkland was born October 24, 1949 in Montgomery Co., daughter of the late Bill and Josephine Melton Powers. She was a Christian and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kirkland and brother, William Melton. Survivors include her children, Ricky Kirkland, Kaye (Jimmy) Gillum and Lorienda (Jeremy) Lewis, all of Indian Mound; brother, Corbet Melton, Dover; grandchildren, Donnie Kirkland, Coty Gillum, Kayla Gillum, Kirkland Martin, Kirsten Martin, Alissa Lewis, Dalton Lewis and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Steve Melton, Timmy Melton, Shane Melton, Jimmy Gillum, Jeremy Lewis and Ricky Kirkland. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kirkland Martin, Coty Gillum, Donnie Kirkland, Kayla Gillum and Kirsten Martin.
