Eileen Muccigrosso, age 62, a native of Elmira, NY, and resident of Dover Care Center, TN, died on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, after a lifetime of overcoming the odds. She was born with a heart condition, but her love was unconditional.
The second of five daughters of Kathryn and the late Vincent Muccigrosso, Eileen graduated from Southside High School with her classes of 1979, 1980 and finally 1981 while working in the high school office.
She worked for 25 years at Capabilities. She served as a reader at St. Mary's Catholic Church for many years.
Eileen loved God, family and friends. But her other top loves were music, especially the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on The Block, sports, jewelry, hats and TV.
She was a diehard fan of the NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills, Knicks, Syracuse and Notre Dame. She also loved watching wrestling.
Eileen is survived by her mother, four sisters Susan Oberg (Greg Schultz), Laure Muccigrosso, Ann Loveland, and Kitty Muccigrosso (Brandon Bartlett); niece Pauline (Lance) Kilmer; nephews Michael (Lauren) Oberg, Kevin Loveland Jr., Vinnie (Angelia) Loveland, Stephen Loveland (Cortney Wilson), and great nieces and nephews. She adored all of her many cousins and friends, including special cousins Tony (Ona) Muccigrosso and Ken Tota (Maurico Guerra); and lifelong friend Mike Lavelle.
The family would like to thank the Dover Care Center staff, or as Leenie called them "my friends,” for all they did for her.
A memorial Mass service for family and friends will be held at St. Mary's - Catholic Church, 224 Franklin St., Elmira, NY at 10 a.m. on June 8, 2024. The family requests guests wear a cool, sports or big and fun hat in Eileen's honor. A private burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
In honor of Eileen -- who brought sunshine and love where she went and never met a stranger – spread kindness, write thank-yous often and smile more.
