Dalton Atkins

Dalton Lee Atkins, age 78, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Anglin Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Melton. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 pm Friday at Anglin Funeral Home and from 9 am until the time of service Saturday. He was born May 29, 1934 in Stewart County, son of Benjamin Vernon and Ruby Sexton Atkins. Mr. Atkins was a farmer and mechanic and attended the Fairview Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Ruth Whitehead Atkins, daughter, Donna Atkins, brother, Billy Atkins, and sister, Carolyn Bogard. Survivors include his children, Mike Atkins (Maria), Dover, Tim Atkins (Toni), Dover, Steve Atkins, Dover, Bonnie Hutchinson (Joe), Dover, Debbie Melton (Ron) McEwen, Sandy Stinson (Larry), Dover, sisters, Gertrude Riggins, Dover, Barbara Beasley, Springville, ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be James Whitehead, Jim Barrett, Louie Bogard, Willie Atkins, David Norvil, and Leonard Starcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Cumby, Dave Hanson, and Tony Taylor.
