Mr. Charles Irvin Cook, 94, of Sango, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on June 29, 1931, he was the beloved son of Charles Henry Cook and Eddie May Smith Cook.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army, with an assignment in Italy. He was deeply proud of his military service and considered it an honor to answer his nation's call. He often spoke with admiration of the brave and dedicated men alongside whom he served.
Above all, Charles loved the Lord and lived his life according to the values with which he was raised. He loved his family, cared for his neighbors, and was always willing to help others in times of need. Charles was a faithful member of Sango United Methodist Church, where he participated in many activities and enjoyed years of fellowship and friendship.
Charles found great joy in the outdoors and in God's creation. Quail hunting and horseback riding were among his favorite pastimes, and he treasured the many hours spent enjoying nature.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eddie May Cook; his wife of 69 years, Peggy Ann Burkhart Cook and sister, Ermine Wall.
Charles leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law; Russell and Judy Cook of Clarksville, TN and sister and brother-in-law; Natalie and David Bradford of Kenton, TN.
A graveside service will be held at Smith Cemetery, Big Rock, TN on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 12:00 pm with Bro. Willie Lyle officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
