Carrie Gilmore

Carrie Gilmore, age 87, of Dover, TN, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Fondly known as "Mama Carrie," she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose love touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

She was born November 6, 1938, in Bear Spring, TN. Carrie retired from Carhartt after more than 40 years in the garment industry.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Baxter Taylor; her son, Ricky Taylor; her sister, Sharon Watts Cothran; and her twin brother, James "Jr." Watts.

Carrie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dale Gilmore of Dover; her daughter, Anita Taylor Duvall; and her son, Marshall Baxter Taylor, both of Clarksville. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carrie loved her flowers and enjoyed watching the turkeys, deer, and hummingbirds around her home. Most of all, she loved her family and friends. To have known Carrie was to love her. Mama Carrie's kindness, warmth, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

In keeping with her wishes, Carrie will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any local charity. Some of Carrie's favorite organizations were Angels on Duty and the Stewart County Cancer Society.
