Carolyn Bogard

Carolyn Sue Bogard, 73, Dover, passed away, Thursday, August 4, 2011, at her residence. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 7, at Anglin Funeral Home, Dover, with Rev. Ron Melton officiating. Burial will be at the Stewart County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:30 - 8:00 pm Saturday at Anglin Funeral Home, Dover, and from 12:00 until the hour of service Sunday. She was born June 27, 1938, in Stewart County, daughter of the late, Vernon and Ruby Sexton Atkins. She married her husband, Ed Bogard on February 25, 1956. She was a Methodist. Mrs. Bogard began her career at Porter Herndon Insurance Agency, from there she worked at Dill's Department Store, then to Dover People's Bank, until retirement. She later opened her own gift shop and helped her husband Ed, in the Real Estate and Auction Business. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ed Bogard, loving and caring son and wife, Louis and Starla Bogard, Henderson, TN, two ever loving granddaughters, Karina and Valerie, Henderson, TN, brothers, Dalton Atkins, Dover, Billy Atkins, Dover, sisters, Gertrude Riggins, Dover, Barbara Beasley, Springville, Aunt Lucille Wofford Clendenin, and lots of caring nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Frank Miller, Willie Atkins, Bernard Wofford, Bill Pruitt, Gerald Campbell, Tim Atkins, and Nathan Boone. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Edmondson, Dr. Robert H. Lee, Pat Bagsby, Justin Lee, Norman Mathis, Everett Earhart, Tim Borens, James C. Brigham, and Steve Atkins. In lieu of memorials donations may be made to the church of your choice or the American Cancer Society.
