Carlos Lewis

April 4, 1937 — August 2, 2021

Carlos Lewis, age 84, of Indian Mound, TN went to be with the Lord August 2, 2021. He was born April 4, 1937, the son of the late Charlie and Eula Gladys Lewis. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was married to his beloved wife Brenda for 62 years. Carlos was well known for his housemoving business, Carlos Lewis and Sons Housemovers. He loved working with his wife and sons on their farm, which he named the Blue Spring Ranch. He enjoyed running equipment and tending to his land and cattle. Carlos loved a good story and shared a laugh with everyone he met. He was recognized by most for his big red trucks and cowboy hat. He was a man of his word, a leader, strong, protective, and always full of wit. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, loyal friend to many, and hardworking example to all.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Alice Donnelly, Louise Curry, Charlene Thoni, Corrine Lewis; brother: Charles Clyde Lewis; and Robert Graham Lewis and Edna Pearl Lewis, his brother and sister who died of whooping cough as children.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Brenda Gillum Lewis; loyal sons, Brandon (Beverly) Lewis, Donnie (Rhonda) Lewis, Robert (Jeanne) Lewis, and Pete Reason, who lived with them and blessed their home for many years; precious grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Brummett, Amelia (Andrew) Hale, Alesha (Matt) Williams, Megan Lewis, Miranda (Gary) Davis, Landon (Frances) Lewis, Logan Lewis, and Lane Lewis; Thomas Reason and Mitchell Reason, who also called Carlos “granddaddy”; fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Luton Lewis of Indian Mound, TN and Rannie Lewis of Big Rock, TN.

A graveside service will be held at the Roper Cemetery, located next to 2369 Old Highway 79, Dover, TN 37058 on August 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Phil Dunn officiating the service. Those serving as pallbearers are, David Bumpus, Ron Daniels, Joseph Estes, Chris Lewis, Grant Redmon, Randall Redmon, Shawn Seay, and Peter Vanderland. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Atkins, George Gardner, Linnis Lewis, Jim McGee, Lawrence Saunders, Ricky Skinner, Sonny Webb, Don Williams and Gary Williams.

Carlos was a longtime member of the Stewart County Historical Society. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Stewart County Historical Society, P.O. Box 297, Dover, TN 37058.

The family ask those attending the service to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
