Mr. Carl Wesley Cottrell, age 82, of Dover, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 20, 1943, the beloved son of Wesley and Pearl Cottrell.

Carl was a devoted family man whose greatest joy was sharing his love with those closest to him. Whether it was spending evenings watching his grandchildren play ball, sitting on the porch visiting with family, or being in the kitchen with Carolyn preparing a Sunday meal, these moments brought him immense happiness.

He worked for several years at Moss American Sawmill and later at TVA as a pipefitter for 25 years of dedication until his retirement. In his spare time, he was a carpenter and enjoyed working alongside his brothers on many projects.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Charles Cottrell; sisters, Carolyn Hughes Downs and Gladys Logan, son-in-law, Michael Earheart.

Carl is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Newberry Cottrell; children, Carla Parker (Jamie), Kim Earheart, and Melissa Cox (Jarrett); honorary daughter, Melissa Hamm Delano; grandchildren, Devin Earheart (Sabrina), Torey Young (Mark), Tabitha Jones (Josten), Dylan Earheart, Ryan Parker, Carson and Bryant Cox; great grandchildren, Grace and Seth Earheart, Blakeley, Kali, and Easton Young, Hudson and Siena Jones; siblings, Louise Spurgeon, Carter Cottrell (Connie), Eddie Cottrell (Jane), Anne Elliott (Barry), Margie Smith, and Wanda Taylor (Ronnie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
