Bruce's growing-up days and youth were spent in Bumpus Mills. He said that the luckiest thing that can happen in life is a happy childhood. He enjoyed being from rural Stewart County and found joy, pleasure, and contentment sitting in solitude on the porch and enjoying the day.
May Bruce be remembered for his appreciation of friends, his convictions, determination, engaging conversations and kind smile. Bruce was a special soul who cannot be replaced, and he had a great personal warmth.
He was a Christian.
Bruce attended elementary school at Bumpus Mills School, where there were 4 classrooms and 4 teachers. He graduated from Stewart County High School and Austin Peay State University.
His work life included coaching at Dover Elementary School and working at the Stewart County, TN Health Department, Montgomery County, TN Health Department, Metro Nashville Health Department, Olympic Data Systems, and Cumberland Title.
Bruce's sports team was the University of Tennessee, especially football, basketball, softball, and baseball. Bruce enjoyed all SEC football and basketball games.
Bruce had been a member of the West Kentucky Corvette Club, and those meetings were happy times.
Bruce's great passion was travel. He traveled to 6 continents and all 50 U.S. states. Bruce saw the world by boat, cruise ship, plane, train, and land vehicle. His and Cathy's dearest travel memories were sailing the Nile River, Egypt; safaris in Zambia and Zimbabwe, Africa; Australia; New Zealand; and Switzerland.
Bruce leaves these people who will miss him greatly: friend and wife Cathy, sister-in-law Peggy Wallace, sister-in-law Carrie Joy Brookshire, and brother-in-law John Dale Brookshire. Niece Elizabeth Jane Rasori Osborne (Don). Nephews John Rasori (Felicia), Jeff Wallace (Cori), Brad Brookshire (Caitlin), and Brent Brookshire (Danielle). Great-nephews John Ross Rasori (Macy), Joey Rasori (Izzy), and Michael Patterson, Collin, and Wiley Brookshire. Great-nieces Julia, Lana, and Lindy Brookshire. Great-great-nephew John Martin Rasori. Dear friends Laura and Todd Crain, Barry Groves, Toni Nelson and Diane Patterson. Kentucky cousins Brenda Scholar and Gary Thomas.
Family members who preceded Bruce in death were his parents, Troy and Elizabeth Ross Wallace; brother Mickey (Mike); sister Sondra Rasori; Aunt Pauline Ross Butterworth; Aunt Bet Thomas; brother-in-law John Rasori Jr.; niece Shani Patterson; cousin Danny Barnes; and his in-laws, Earl and Sarah Haithcock Welborn.
As we bid farewell, let us remember the love and laughter Bruce brought to our lives. He lived a very full life until his last breath.
Bruce was a great friend; he was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
RIP.
It has been good to know you.
